Good news for travelers who want to get to their favorite place in the world faster: For the first time in its history, the Telluride Regional Airport (TEX) will offer commercial flights into Telluride.
Starting May 15, Denver Air Connection's relationship with United Airlines will launch daily flights from Denver, allowing residents and visitors a comfortable ride on a 30-seat Dornier 328JET and landing only five miles west of Telluride's business district (or 10 minutes away from the village and slopes.)
Although TEX has long provided commercial turboprop service, the Denver flights will be the first operated on a jet. Currently, the only way to get to Telluride is through the two closest airports, TEX and the Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ).
"Jet service from DEN to TEX greatly improves accessibility and convenience," said Telluride Mayor Sean Murphy in an article from www.9news.com. "It is a game-changer that enhances Telluride's global profile."
The summer months are Telluride's busiest. Known as the "Festival Capital," it literally has an event for every type of art, outdoor, music, film, food, wine and wellness person out there. The new jet service is an incentive for travelers from all over the world who want an easier way to get here as soon as possible to experience it.
