Telluride Summer 2020 — This Summer in Telluride

Added: Jul 21, 2020
Category: Summer in Telluride

Summer in Telluride means sunny, warm days, and plenty of opportunities to explore the area. Most summers, there’s a busy event schedule; however, due to COVID-19, the majority of Telluride’s annual summer festivals have been canceled. This includes the Telluride Film Festival, Mountainfilm, the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, the Telluride Yoga Festival, The RIDE Festival, the 4th of July Celebration, the Telluride Jazz Celebration and the Telluride Blues and Brews Festival. However, even without the Festivals, there is still plenty to do! If you're planning a visit during the summer of 2020, you’ll still be able to enjoy Telluride, taking advantage of the long summer days and spectacular surrounding scenery.

Get Your Adventure On at a Telluride Bike Park

Dreaming of the dry air and abundant sunshine? Soak it up at the new Telluride Bike Park. Designed for all skill levels, this exciting park delivers a variety of trails and challenges for both beginner and expert riders. Take the lift up and choose from a variety of interconnected trails. You can enhance your skills and gain confidence on the trail with bike clinics tailored to your experience. Choose from group clinics or invest in a private guide to fast-track your skill-building journey.

Browse Local Telluride Fare

Summer beckons locals and visitors alike to the Telluride Farmers Market every Friday and the Mountain Village Market every Wednesday. Shop for locally-grown, organic food at either market and meet Telluride's farming community while you’re there. Whether you're in the market for vegetables or looking for ready-to-crack fresh eggs, you'll find it this summer at the Summer 2020 markets.

Plan a Day Trip to Soak in the Scenery

While you might assume the “hot” springs isn’t the place to go in the heat, the higher elevations of Colorado make it enjoyable (especially in the mornings and evenings, once the daytime temperatures have cooled). If you’re up for a day trip (and don’t mind keeping to social distancing and mask-wearing protocols), you’ll find Ouray Hot Springs just an hour away. Open to the public, this geothermally-heated sulfur-free mineral pool boasts five pools, three water slides, an adults-only section, multiple lap lanes, and even a climbing wall. Whether you're looking to relax and gaze at the surrounding 13,000-foot peaks, get in some low-impact exercise, or watch the children wear themselves out, Ouray Hot Springs is not to be missed this summer.

Hit the Trails

Trails are nothing new in Telluride, but they remain an important attraction for visitors particularly in these times of social distancing. It's important to know which trails will be best for your outing to truly enjoy your time outdoors. If you're spending the day with children or a group, some lesser-known trails that may not be as busy (and therefore facilitate keeping 6 feet of space) as the famous Bridal Veil trail include Keystone Gorge Trail, Ridge Trail, Village Trail, and Hawn Mountain Creek. For a serene hiking experience with breathtaking views, check out Keystone Gorge Trail. Village Trail is great for families with small children and Ridge Trail provides the perfect photo op against a backdrop of colorful wildflowers.
